Immigration
Our name begins with “IMM,” as in immigration: the journey our clients are on, and the work we do every day.
About us
IMMAI began with a question we heard again and again: “What is happening with my case?”
Where we come from
Newhope Immigrant is a California nonprofit corporation and an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity in City of Industry. We focus on the people who need help most: new immigrants, low-income individuals and families, and others who are easily left behind.
Most of the people who come to us speak Chinese or Spanish, and some have had little formal schooling. Letters from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or the immigration court arrive in English, full of legal terms, and an online case status can change without any explanation. Our clients counted on us to read those letters with them, check on their cases, and explain what each change meant.
As more people came to us, we wanted a name they could remember and trust. That is how IMMAI began: the name under which Newhope Immigrant offers immigration legal services, in person, in English, Spanish and Chinese.
Our name
Every part of our name carries a promise to the people we serve.
Our name begins with “IMM,” as in immigration: the journey our clients are on, and the work we do every day.
“AI” stands for artificial intelligence: we look ahead and keep improving how we work, so that help is clearer and easier to reach. Every case is still handled by our staff.
Our logo is an “M” drawn as two hills, with a sun rising between them: the road ahead, and the new hope in the name Newhope Immigrant.
To help new immigrants and low-income families understand their immigration matters and protect their rights: clearly, reliably, and in their own language.
A community where no one loses their way in the immigration process because of language, cost or a lack of information.
Our values
We give honest, careful answers and never promise outcomes no one can guarantee.
Every client is treated with patience and dignity, whatever their background or education.
We explain legal processes in plain language, in English, Spanish or Chinese.
Today we follow every case carefully by hand, and we keep improving how we work so we can serve more people.
